New Jersey Mayor, Cory Booker, made a public service announcement last week (posted to You Tube by Gun Owners of America) to his constituents offering cold hard cash ($1,000) to residents who turn in their gun owning neighbors. Granted this is for people who may be illegally carrying a gun; but this should awaken anyone who owns guns, as their protection by the Bill of Rights is being undermined by a veiled campaign to make it unpopular to own a firearm- concealed or otherwise.

Criminals will have no problem replacing a confiscated weapon. Perhaps the  government can even help them get another one. Can you say Fast and Furious?

At present, no one can take your gun if you possess it in a law abiding manner; but like cigarettes, or overweight, pressure can make some so socially uncomfortable, that they will  succumb to turning in their weapons without resistance.

People kill people not guns. Criminals, whether outlaws or within the law, will always find a way to do injustice to others. They will find the necessary weaponry they need to do harm and use it against the innocent.

Getting people to turn in others who are illegally carrying weapons is part of a “big brother” move to make you spy on your neighbor or neighborhood thug. Neither is your job. Are they asking criminals to turn in fellow criminals?

Where are the law enforcement personnel? If they wait long enough, the government might be able to resupply newer weapons to the illegal concealed carrying community. Fast and Furious anyone?

Illegal weapons are not to be tolerated and those who carry them are wrong for doing so. However, the snitching issue needs to be exposed for what it is, spying on your neighbor. Why are they after just the weapons and not the people who supply them? If crime is going down in Newark, New Jersey, why the push to report anyone?

Like fast and furious-  perhaps criminals will now steal more guns from rightful owners creating more problems in the community for the law abiding- forcing the Mayor to plead with residents to turn in all guns, illegal or not.  Things are never what they appear, from election campaigns to presidents to public service announcements. There is always a back story, and for the average citizen it is usually not in their favor.
