Southern Baptists have rejected the new gender-neutral New International Version of the bible. The have found the language to be unacceptable. The 2005 version was also rejected by the group.
Study bibles are an important part of spiritual growth. Let’s be careful about what is new and “innovative” when it comes to studying the inspired word of God. I have used the Ryrie Study bible since 1982. I have grown enough not to believe everything I read by a commentator (which is basically what a study bible includes… commentary, but not exclusively.) However, I do my own research in other books known for their accuracy and of course and most important, I ask God what He is teaching me.
